Water

Standard

The health benefits of drinking water cannot be underestimated.  Your body consists of at least 2/3 water.  Water is vital in nutrient transportation,  metabolic function, protecting organs, regulation of body temperature, detoxification, joint health, and more.  Every last cell from your head to your toes requires water to function.  Drinking water has countless benefits included but not limited to…

Weight LossWater is key in regulating weight.  If you are dehydrated your body cannot flush out burned up fat.  Instead your kidneys overload and you retain the weight as well as harmful waste.  So in short you need it to loose weight and maintain healthy kidneys!

Avert Ailments -Water provides a protective barrier in our joints and maintains electrical connectivity in the brain.  If you are running low on water your joints and head ache as a result.  Don’t reach for the aspirin!  Many times just a few glasses of water will cure the ailment!

Increased Energy – Water is vital for metabolic reactions and balancing your body’s pH (acidity) levels.  As pH levels get out of whack resistance of your nerves increases and ability to absorb nutrients decreases.  Your body struggles to produce energy and cognitive thinking suffers as well.  This translates to fatigue.  Resist the urge for that caffeine fix and instead try a couple glasses of water.  Caffeine will exacerbate the problem further dehydrating you whereas water will solve the underlying issue.

Healthy Skin – Water flushes out many of the toxins and bacteria responsible for skin blemishes.  It also moisturizes the skin giving it a plump and radiant look.

Detoxification – Evidence shows that maintaining a healthy balance of water in the body reduces the risk of cancer.  Water dilutes cancer causing agents and other toxins in the body.  Then is regulates bowel function flushing them out of your system along with other harmful waste.

How Much Water Should You drink?

Experts say you need to drink at least 1/2 fluid ounce of water for every pound you weigh each day.  If exercising this can be upwards of 1 ounce per pound you weigh each day.  Here are some signs you aren’t getting enough water.

  1. Your urine is discolored.
  2. You feel fatigued.
  3. You feel thirsty.
  4. You feel hungry despite eating.

Where Should You Get Water?

Water is everywhere but not all water is created equal.  There are countless toxins and contaminates ranging from lead to gardia that can be found in water.  It’s important these contaminates be avoided to maintain and develop a healthy body.  One misconception is that bottled water is healthy water.  This is not always the case.  Bottled water has no quality guarantee and in many cases is packaged in cheap plastic bottles that themselves contaminate the water.  The best method of getting consistently healthy water is through filtration.  Here’s a handful of the numerous benefits of drinking water from a simple carbon filter.

  1. Improved taste. Great for drinking and cooking with.
  2. Carbon fitlers are capable of hundreds of known contaminates including but not limited to lead, chlorine, cryptosporidium, and giardia.
  3. Cheaper than bottled water.
  4. Reduces bottled water waste.
  5. Retains healthy mineral deposits in the water.
